Ten years have gone by since I wrote this song. I debuted this one at Kraftbrau in Kalamazoo, MI in 2005, and it continues to be one of my favorites. It has seen many forms and arrangements over the years; it appeared on "Grey When Black Will Do" by Hypermodal in 2008, and it continues to be a song on my acoustic set list when I play live.
This year I decided to celebrate the song I love so much with a new version - this one explores a more spooky ambience than previous arrangements, and just in time for Halloween!
Charlie, Nick, and Sage contributed in many ways. Thank you!
lyrics
she may leave it all in the morning
before you've had your chance to prove yourself
she may conjure it up without you
casting all of her spells
and all the little islands you've held up
won't be enough to get you through
all the heartache
when she marks you off as completed
and she nods for you to move
she will conquer them all without you
casting all of her spells
and all the little hexes you've mastered
won't be enough to see you through
all the heartache
she gets wickeder as she brews your interests
and crafts her potions to entangle you
you'll be the last to know
